Why doesn’t my code work? Common reasons and what to do

By CodeKhasmk · Updated

You copied the code, pasted it in the promo box, and the store said no — or gave you less than you expected? Most of the time the code is not broken; one of its conditions was not met. A discount code is a bit like a case: every condition has to check out, and this guide explains the most common conditions and what to do about each.

Common reasons a code is rejected

The code is for another country

Many stores issue a different code for each country, and a code is accepted according to the delivery country or the version of the site you shop on. Make sure the country picked on CodeKhasmk is your delivery country, and that you are on that country’s version of the store.

New customers or first order only

If you already have an account with the store, or have ordered before, it may reject a code meant for new customers. Some stores also check the phone number or the delivery address.

App only

Some codes work only in the store’s mobile app. If the terms say “app only”, use the code in the app, not on the website.

Your basket is below the minimum

If the code needs a minimum order value, it will not be accepted until your basket reaches it. Note that some stores count the minimum before delivery fees, or after other discounts.

The discount hit its cap

Many codes give a percentage up to a fixed maximum. As the basket grows, the discount stops at the cap, so it looks smaller than the percentage — even though the code works exactly as the store announced.

Excluded products or brands

Some codes do not cover sale items at all, or leave out certain brands and departments. If your basket mixes covered and excluded items, the discount may apply to part of it only.

One code per order

Most stores take one code per order, and entering a new one usually replaces the old one. A code may also not combine with another offer already in your basket.

A typing mistake

An extra space, a capital letter instead of a small one, a zero instead of the letter O — any of these is enough to get a code rejected. Copy the code from CodeKhasmk and paste it as it is.

The code expired or the store stopped it

A code leaves our list automatically on its expiry date, but a store can stop a code early, or limit how many times it can be used so that it runs out before the date.

What to do if a code is rejected

  1. Read the code’s terms under it on CodeKhasmk and check them against your basket and delivery country.
  2. Clear the promo box, copy the code again and paste it fresh.
  3. If the code is app only, try it in the app.
  4. Try another code for the same store if the page has one.
  5. If nothing works, tell us through our contact page: the store, the code, your country and the message you saw at checkout. We read every report, and a code our team confirms has stopped leaves the list.

What does the “Verified” badge mean?

The green “Verified” badge means someone on our team tried the code on the date shown next to it as “Last checked”. It shows the code worked on that day; it is not a promise that it will work on every order after it, because only the store controls the code and its terms.
